Designers Menno Vanderveen and Guido Tent decided for these designs after the positive reception of the E-choke, 2 yars ago. MECs typically fill the gap towards smaller power amplifiers (100mA) and preamplifiers (50mA) where the E-choke was still to big.

MECs replace traditional chokes that generally work quite well, but suffer from serious disadvantages:
• high weight
• relatively big size
• magnetic field radiation that induces hum in the circuit

The MECs effectively solve all these issues, and offer up to 60dB supply ripple reduction
